Unwanted FC & Alex Chidiac Link Up for Common Goal

We've had the pleasure of reworking professional footballer, Alex Chidiac’s old kits into a purposeful collection.

Matildas Alex Chidiac

Despite her young age, Alex Chidiac has travelled extensively throughout the world thanks to her impressive career. Now playing for Racing Louisville FC in the United States, Chidiac has been collecting some beautiful garments along the way from her previous clubs - Atletico Madrid, JEF United, Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.

A firm believer in Unwanted FC's zero waste mission, Chidiac also shares her thoughts on what the project means to her,

"This is both an impactful and meaningful project for myself to be involved in, as 50% of each sale will go directly to Moving The Goalposts."

The Matilda has always been one that looks far beyond the field. The impact she’s been making through movements like Common Goal has proved impressive all whilst juggling a professional career in football.

Through Common Goal, Chidiac already pledges 1% of her earnings every year, but she’s also proactively working on projects like this one to have even further impact.

Moving The Goalposts is an organisation that links gender-based violence, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and economic empowerment all within youth sports programming.

The organisation uses football as the main tool to positively impact the lives of disadvantaged girls and young women on the rural coastal region of Kenya.

Since 2001, they’ve empowered over 50,000 girls by letting them into a community where their voices are heard and healthy conversations surrounding their future is discussed.

In March of this year, one of Moving the Goalposts participants, Faida Safari, lost her life at age 25 to an act of gender-based violence.

Upon hearing about the tragedy, Alex Chidiac teamed up with us and Common Goal to enable fans to make a difference.

Together, Unwanted FC, Alex Chidiac & Common Goal are challenging the norm with this purposeful collaboration.

About Common Goal:

Common Goal is a collective social movement that exists to unite the football community in tackling the world's biggest challenges of our times.

The movement aims to inspire every stakeholder of the football economy to play a meaningful role in serving the wellbeing of our people and planet. To do so, Common Goal provides a simple mechanism for professional football players, managers, officials, clubs, and other stakeholders, to pledge a minimum of 1% of their earnings to high-impact initiatives that use the game to drive progress towards the Global Goals - from advancing gender and racial equality to driving jobs and growth and promoting greater peace and social justice.

In doing so, Common Goal aims to establish an intrinsic link between football as a business and football as a tool for social change.
