Inspiring the Next Generation: HICES Workshop on Upcycling & Circular Design

During National Recycling Week 2025, Unwanted FC partnered with the HICES NSW Program to host a hands-on workshop for 60 students, combining football and creative thinking with sustainability.

The rotating stations included a trivia shootout led by Western Sydney Wanderers Captain & Unwanted FC ambassador Amy Harrison, where students answered climate questions before taking shots on goal, and upcycling design challenges led by co-founders Kevin and Keith Chan, encouraging students to think like Unwanted FC designers. Students went on to explore innovative product ideas and solutions to real-world sustainability challenges in their respective communities.

This workshop reflects our mission to merge sport, creative design, and sustainability. Guiding the next generation of leaders through our way of working was both inspiring and deeply rewarding.
